Wednesday's Sexy Word of the Week

Noisette

A small, round piece of meat.

If that doesn't get your salivations salivating, I don't know what else I can do for you.

Sunday Zen

Nothing is secure but life, transition, the energizing spirit...People wish to be settled; but only so far as they are unsettled is there any hope for them. --Ralph Waldo Emerson

Wednesday's Sexy Word of the Week

If you can remember when the sun got more face-time than the stars, back when the dark did not mean the cold and you could drink during the daylight hours for several hours upon end then perhaps you remember that once the sky turned black, well, a deep shade of blue, the sun would leave little rays of itself firing through the high atmosphere to illuminate the smallest particles of water vapor clinging to each other so high above our own imaginations.

MoonDay's somewhat random yet still connected ramblings

#1. In order to continue this search for meaning and peace, it becomes ultimately important to re-examine the attachments and detachments that seem to define who we are.

Instead of allowing the relationships between people, food, clothing, vehicles, achievements, etc. to become who we are, let us begin by defining ourselves then letting these other articles that we find in our environments fall neatly into our experiences like so many puzzle pieces. If it doesn't fit, let it fall to the floor. Not forever mind you, but just for the moment. Remember the size and shape of the misfitting piece and be able to return to it if ever a hole opens up for it.

#2. Read, read, read.

Conscious Conscience part 1

As an atheist I have no salvation.

That is, no one died for my sins, covering them with his scarlet blood so that when I stand before the eternal judge, he may see that my debts have already been paid.

There is no eternal judge. And there are no debts to be paid later. All of my transgressions will probably come back to bite me in the ass before I die.

So I really only have two options:

1. Live in fear of the repercussions of my wrongful words or deeds.

Or

2. Live a very aware existence, thinking before I speak or act and being sure to do what is the most right at all times.

Obviously, the second option would lead to far more happiness in the long run. Hell, even in the short run. We all know that as soon as we tell even the smallest white lie, we begin to worry that we will be found out.

I think I have just presented an oddly selfish argument for doing things which society deems to be good and moral: To not be caught.

If we, at all times, are careful and mindful of our interactions with others and try with great consciousness to do the good and avoid the bad, we will be set free from the anxiety of punishment.

Wednesday's Sexy Word of the Week

Filicology

n-- the study of ferns

I think I'm tiring. I'll be heading into the woods next week for a couple weeks. When I return we may move on to something a little bit different. It should still be sexy but maybe it will have a slight change in tack. Bear with me, folks: existential crisis is about to be in full-swing.

Sunday Zen

There are years that ask questions and years that answer. --Zora Neale Hurston
